Space: Master Bathroom

Client C was overwhelmed by the contents of her bathroom. It is a small space and she had all of her dental, hair, make-up, first aid and medications crammed in the drawers the cupboards and all over the counters. Overloaded counters create visual clutter which is stressful, feels messy and often makes items more difficult to find.

We sorted those items in the room into what had to be used in the space (dental care, shower items, lotions…). Then prioritized the items into what is used often, occasionally and seldom. Those items that are used often were placed in easy to reach spaces in the medicine cabinet and top drawers, those used occasionally in the lower drawer and cabinet of the bathroom vanity. Those items seldom used were either placed in the guest bathroom or the linen closet.

Client C had a small master bath, but a large bedroom. She ended up purchasing a small vanity table where she could sit and do her hair and make-up. This ended up creating more space in the bathroom for her other items and it allowed her the comfort of a larger workspace and a seat while getting ready for her day.

Lessons Learned: Reduce visual clutter and give yourself more space to get ready for the day – keep bathroom vanities as clear as possible. Medicine cabinets are great in small bathrooms for additional space.
